Edition 808 Takes the Lead with a Strong Start for the Makana Kup

Edition 808 has moved to the front of the pack in the first 10 days of registration for the Okakopa Hoolaulea. James White, leader of the group of Euro auto enthusiasts was the very first to enter the show with his 1969 VW Beetle.

The big question is, can his group sustain the lead to the end?

Auto enthusiasts may recall that last year’s Oktoberfest was a neck-and-neck race between Edition 808 and TeamBMW Hawaii. Edition 808 often held the lead over TeamBMW only to be defeated by Mark Trinidad’s team in the final push by a small margin of only four cars.

It’s still anyone’s game at this early stage. This year’s registration deadline is October 15, 10 days ahead of the hoolaulea. This change may have an impact on the final standing as last year’s registration was kept open closer to event day.

The Mercedes-Benz of Honolulu Makana Kup is given to the auto club that enters the most vehicles entered into the Okakopa Hoolaulea. This is to recognize the winner for their support in helping Hawaii’s public school’s.
